Our Story

Yin & Pin was born from a shared vision to create restorative, community-based spaces for nervous system nourishment and inner connection.

Brian was first introduced to the concept of combining Yin yoga and acupuncture through his former clinic owner, who recognized its alignment with Brian’s focus on mental health — particularly anxiety and insomnia — and suggested it might be a good fit. In his research, Brian discovered that this fusion is gaining popularity in Australia and other parts of the world, and he believed the Vancouver community could benefit from the synergy of these two deeply supportive modalities. After attending one of Julia’s Yin classes, he felt an intuitive alignment in our approach to space-holding and healing, and proposed the idea of collaborating. It was an instant “yes.”

As someone who had received acupuncture for years, Julia saw how naturally the two modalities supported each other. Yin yoga invites us into stillness and deep release, while acupuncture enhances the body’s natural ability to relax and restore. Together, they create a uniquely supportive environment for nervous system regulation, embodied rest, and emotional balance.

We know that life in the city can be overwhelming — fast-paced, expensive, and sometimes isolating. That’s why we’re creating space for people to slow down, turn inward, and reconnect — with their bodies, their breath, and their inner world.

We believe that when people feel grounded and resourced, they’re better able to show up for themselves and their communities. Yin & Pin is our way of contributing to a more centred, compassionate Vancouver — one pause at a time.
